A column PA is a tall, slim speaker on a subwoofer base: quick to set up, and its sound spreads evenly across a room. It suits cafés, restaurants, small venues, presentations, acoustic sets and DJ sets for smaller crowds. Models from Yamaha, JBL, StudioMaster, Proel and Precision.
How to choose:
- Built-in mixer: count your inputs — the Yamaha Stagepas 1K, for example, has a 5-channel mixer and Bluetooth, so microphones, an instrument and music need no separate mixer.
- Battery: the JBL EON ONE Pro has a built-in rechargeable battery for places without a socket.
- Size and power: larger columns such as the Yamaha DXL1K, JBL IRX ONE and StudioMaster Direct 121 cover bigger rooms; compact ones are easier to carry.
- One or two: one column is enough for speech and background music; use a pair for stereo and a bigger crowd.
Need it for one event? We rent out the Yamaha DXL1K with Stagepas with delivery and a technician.
