Microphones for the stage, the studio and livestreams: vocal, instrument and recording mics from AKG, Yamaha, JBL and Wharfedale Pro, wired and wireless.

How to choose:

  • Dynamic or condenser: dynamic vocal mics such as the AKG D5 and D5 C are tough and keep out room noise — the usual choice on stage and for karaoke. Condenser mics such as the AKG P120, P220 and P420 or the Yamaha YCM01 capture more detail when you record vocals and instruments in a quiet room, and they need phantom power.
  • USB or XLR: USB microphones such as the AKG Lyra C44-USB, AKG Ara and Yamaha AG01 plug straight into a computer for podcasts, streams and calls; XLR microphones go into a mixer or a sound card.
  • Wireless: sets such as the JBL VM200 and Wharfedale Pro Aerolinr free the singer or the host from the cable; check how many microphones the set includes.
  • Pickup pattern: a cardioid mic hears mostly what is in front of it; the AKG P420 also switches to other patterns for different recording jobs.

Recording at home? Pair your mic with a sound card and studio monitors. For one event, we also rent out AKG and Shure microphones.
