Description
The Studiomaster DIRECT121MX is the MX version of the DIRECT121 column system. It pairs a slim passive column with six 3-inch mid-range drivers and a 1-inch compression driver with a powered 12-inch bass reflex subwoofer that contains the 2 x 300 W RMS amplifier, a 4-channel mixer and a 24-bit DSP. Compared with the standard DIRECT series, the MX adds a wooden subwoofer enclosure and an adjustable reverb.
Highlights
- Column: 6 x 3" mid-range + 1 x 1" compression driver, 180 W RMS, 6 Ω
- 12" bass reflex subwoofer in a wooden enclosure, 300 W RMS, 4 Ω
- Amplifier 2 x 300 W RMS, frequency range 20 Hz – 20 kHz
- 120° x 30° (H x V) coverage
- 4-channel mixer: 2 mic/line combo, 1 Hi-Z, 1 stereo RCA, with adjustable reverb
- XLR line link and mix outputs
Studiomaster aims the MX at salons, receptions, small band performances, conferences and speeches, and the reverb is the reason to pick it when people sing or talk into microphones: karaoke nights, singer-guitarists, a wedding host. The Hi-Z input takes a guitar or bass directly, and the RCA input takes a media player or a DJ controller.
At a venue or an event, the 120-degree horizontal pattern reaches a wide audience from one position, while the 30-degree vertical pattern keeps the sound in a narrow band. The line link outputs feed a second system or extra speakers, and the mix output can go to a recorder or another amplifier. The subwoofer weighs 23 kg and measures 358 x 646 x 447 mm; the column stands 835 mm tall, and a compact support box comes with the system for building the vertical array.
