Description
The AKG D5 C is a wired dynamic microphone made for vocals on stage, from small club gigs to large concert halls. Its cardioid pickup concentrates on the voice in front of the capsule and rejects sound from behind, which keeps feedback in check near floor monitors. It suits singers, MCs and presenters who need a sturdy handheld mic that simply plugs into the desk.
Highlights
- Cardioid polar pattern for focused pickup and low feedback on stage.
- Laminated Varimotion diaphragm, patented by AKG, voiced so vocals stay clear in a dense mix.
- Very high level handling: maximum SPL above 160 dB (calculated by AKG).
- Dual shock mount around the capsule to cut handling noise.
- Integrated pop filter against plosives and wind, behind a spring-steel wire-mesh grille.
- 20 Hz – 17 kHz response, 2.6 mV/Pa sensitivity, 600 Ω impedance, 320 g.
In your setup
The D5 C uses a standard 3-pin XLR cable and connects to the mic input of a mixer, DJ mixer, powered speaker or audio interface. As a dynamic microphone it does not depend on phantom power. In a DJ booth it goes into the mic channel of the mixer or controller for announcements and MC work. This listing is the D5 C without a switch; AKG's D5 CS is the same microphone with a silent on/off switch.
