Description
The AKG P220 is a large-diaphragm condenser microphone from AKG's Project Studio line, with a 1-inch capsule and a cardioid pickup pattern. It is first of all a vocal mic, and it also works on acoustic guitar, brass and other instruments in a home or project studio.
A -20 dB pad and a 300 Hz bass cut (12 dB/octave) are switched on the body. With the pad off the mic takes up to 135 dB SPL, with it on up to 155 dB SPL, which covers loud singers, guitar amps and brass at close range. The bass cut helps against rumble and the boomy low end of close singing.
The P220 needs 48 V phantom power from a mixer, audio interface or preamp. It comes with a spider-type shock mount that fits standard mic stands and an aluminium carrying case.
