Description
The Pioneer VM-50 belongs to Pioneer's VM series of studio monitors, chosen by many producers and DJs for their studios. It combines an attractive design, powerful, lively sound and a host of modern features for an excellent listening experience.
Stylish, eye-catching design
The Pioneer VM-50 has a rectangular cabinet with a strong, solid look. The whole outer shell is smoothly finished, and the subtly rounded edges give it a refined, modern feel. It comes in understated black or white to suit almost any studio.
At 300 x 198 x 265 mm and 5.5 kg, the Pioneer VM-50 is easy to position and set up in a professional studio. The front features an aluminium baffle with a hexagonal surround around the two drivers, while the back houses clearly and logically labelled connectors for easy use.
A specially built cabinet for optimised sound
The Pioneer VM-50's cabinet is made from high-grade MDF with an industrial vinyl finish. MDF is very rigid and durable, protecting the speaker's internals from knocks. The outer coating also provides good electrical and thermal insulation.
The front is a rigid 4 mm aluminium baffle designed specifically for the VM series to reduce vibration in the monitors. The rounded edges also significantly reduce unwanted noise while the speaker is playing, keeping the sound clear and clean even at high volume.
To keep the sound balanced and clear, the bass reflex port is placed at the rear, limiting distortion and breakup in the low frequencies and improving sound quality.
The Pioneer VM-50 reproduces sound faithfully
The VM-50 studio monitor reproduces sound accurately and faithfully, with powerful bass, thanks to sophisticated modern circuitry and high-tech drivers: a 127mm Aramid fibre woofer and a 25.4mm tweeter with a flared waveguide. It is suited to both DJing and music production, and can be adjusted to suit different listening rooms.
Aramid woofer and Vortex bass technology
The woofer uses an improved Aramid fibre cone that is 30% lighter than conventional cones, delivering surprisingly strong impact, tighter bass and better definition across the frequency range, while also making the driver more durable.
Combined with Vortex bass technology, low frequencies are reproduced tighter and more controlled, while unwanted vibration is eliminated.
Meanwhile, ribs inside the bass reflex port let air flow freely out of the speaker for pure, clear sound even at the lowest frequencies.
Tweeter with a constant-directivity waveguide
Smooth highs and mids on the VM-50 are handled by a tweeter with a constant-directivity horn. This design spreads the sound widely and evenly through the room and delivers a flat frequency response.
Class D amplification with 60W of power
Alongside the quality drivers, built-in Class D amplification delivers a total of 60W (30W for the woofer and 30W for the tweeter) with a frequency response of 37 Hz - 36 kHz for true-to-life, vivid sound.
In addition, 96 kHz DSP circuitry reproduces sound with wide bandwidth, low distortion and high energy. The rigid 4 mm aluminium front baffle suppresses resonance and vibration for sound that stays true to the original.
Flat frequency response
To preserve the natural sound of your music, the VM-50 uses proprietary technology that lets you monitor with flat voicing and hear the track exactly as it is, for the most honest listening experience.
To help you fine-tune the output and find the perfect sound, DSP settings are built into the rear panel with two knobs: Low EQ and High EQ. With 4 positions on each knob, you get 16 possible EQ settings that are very simple to use. So you can choose the setting that sounds best for DJing or music production in your home studio, depending on the shape, size and construction of the room.
Versatile, flexible connectivity
The Pioneer VM-50 has 1 XLR input and 1 RCA input on the back, so you can connect compatible gear for DJing and music production. The connectors are gold-plated for durability and a better connection, delivering the signal quickly and fully with minimal loss.
