Description
Genelec presents the 7380A, a new SAM™ series studio subwoofer that comes with Genelec's exclusive GLM software and delivers impressive bass performance. With a huge 40 cm woofer, an impressive 800 W of power and many high-end features, it is designed for professionals in music production, post-production, film and television who need a subwoofer that reproduces low frequencies powerfully and reliably.
Genelec 7380A studio subwoofer design overview
It is a truly massive design, measuring 718 x 685 x 492 mm (W x H x D) and weighing up to 69 kg — the perfect choice for large, professional spaces.
The subwoofer is finished in elegant black high-grade die-cast aluminium, with refined details and softly rounded, elegant edges. The front features distinctive vertical slats that reveal the woofer inside as an eye-catching accent.

40 cm woofer
As one of Genelec's largest active subwoofers, the 7380A has a precisely engineered 40 cm woofer driven by a Class D amplifier with a hugely impressive 800 W RMS. It can play music and program material of every genre while keeping the bass clear and powerful.
High SPL, low distortion
Delivering a level of performance usually associated with much larger enclosures, the 7380A subwoofer offers both high power and high SPL, with extended low-distortion LF response and flexible bass options. Comprehensive connectivity ensures stable operation in stereo or multichannel setups, making the Genelec the perfect choice for music, film or broadcast applications that need powerful, reliable LF reproduction in a compact form.
Calibration and control with GLM
Also equipped with Genelec's exclusive GLM software, the subwoofer is configured, calibrated and controlled through the networked Smart Active Monitoring (SAM™) system, which calibrates itself automatically to the room.
GLM adjusts level, distance delay and room response compensation EQ flexibly using the AutoCal™ 2 automatic calibration algorithm, with parameters and settings stored in system setup files, or stored in each individual monitor or subwoofer if the GLM network needs to be disconnected.
With GLM you get access to advanced system management and automatic calibration; powerful room compensation features let the 7380A be optimised for many acoustic environments and used with both centralised and distributed bass management.
Active crossover
The Genelec 7380A's active digital crossover includes additional signal processing such as driver protection, delay and equalisation. Its electronics operate at low signal levels, matched to the power amplifier inputs, for excellent efficiency while staying safe at high levels.
Bass management for monitoring low-frequency content
Large multichannel monitoring systems reproduce a wide bandwidth evenly. Bass management, using analogue electronics or software-based filtering, filters the low-frequency information out of the main channels and routes it to one or more subwoofer feeds.
Genelec's dedicated LFE channel can be monitored through the 7380A subwoofer and added to the low frequencies of the other main channels, so the full audio bandwidth of every channel can be monitored accurately.
Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS™) reduces power consumption
Since its introduction in early 2013, Genelec's Intelligent Signal Sensing technology has been highly regarded for monitoring the speaker's input signal and detecting whether the speaker is in use. If the ISS circuit finds no audio at the input for a period of time, it puts the speaker into a low-power sleep state in which it draws less than 0.5 W.
Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE™) for accurate low-frequency reproduction
Genelec's engineers keep researching and innovating to deliver bold ideas. The result is the completely unique curved shape of the LSE™ Series active subwoofer enclosure, which provides excellent laminar flow characteristics with minimal turbulence noise and fits a very long reflex port into a small space.
The spiral design gives an extremely rigid enclosure while also forming the subwoofer's integrated port. It helps make the Genelec 7380A a complete, fully featured monitor unlike anything else on the market.
Easy to integrate
The 7380A has 7.1-channel analog XLR I/O, and AES/EBU digital connectivity allows both stereo and full 7.1 digital operation with the optional Genelec 9301 digital connection. The Genelec 7380A is designed for professionals in music production, post-production, film and broadcast who demand professional results and strict audio standards.
