Description
The Pioneer DJ RM-05 is a 5-inch active studio monitor for near-field listening in a home or project studio. Its coaxial driver places the tweeter in the centre of the woofer, so highs and lows come from a single point, and the cabinet is die-cast aluminium. It is sold as a single speaker.
Highlights
- Coaxial driver: 5″ Aramid fibre woofer with a 1.5″ aluminium hard-dome HSDOM tweeter that reaches up to 50 kHz.
- Bi-amplified with custom Class AB amps, 50 W for the woofer and 50 W for the tweeter, fed by a toroidal transformer.
- AFAST acoustic tube inside the cabinet absorbs standing waves; grooves in the front bass reflex duct smooth the airflow.
- Frequency response of 45 Hz – 50 kHz (-10 dB) and a maximum level of 104 dB SPL peak at 1 m.
- Front POWER/CLIP indicator that turns red when the input level is too high.
In your setup
Connect an audio interface, mixer or monitor controller to the balanced XLR or the unbalanced RCA input; both inputs are mixed, so watch the levels if you use two sources. Three rear EQ dials (low at 50 Hz, mid at 140 Hz, high at 10 kHz) have four positions each to compensate for walls, a desk or the room; the factory setting is flat. The thick rubber legs suit a stand, the thin cushions a desk with the speaker tilted upwards, and M6 holes accept a wall bracket. Auto standby can be switched off at the back.
