Description
The Soundcraft Signature 12 is a 12-input analogue mixer with eight Ghost mic preamps, Lexicon effects, dbx limiters and a stereo (2-in/2-out) USB interface. It shares its channel layout with the multitrack 12MTK, but its USB link carries one stereo pair, which is enough to record a live mix or play tracks from a laptop at a gig, an event or in a DJ booth with several microphones.
Highlights
- Eight Ghost mic preamps; 48 V phantom power and a high-pass filter on every mic channel
- Sapphyre 3-band EQ with a swept mid (140 Hz – 3 kHz) on the mono channels
- Lexicon effects processor with 22 algorithms, fed from the Aux 3/FX send
- Two subgroups with their own TRS outputs and three aux sends with pre/post switching
- 2-in/2-out USB audio at 16 or 24 bits and sample rates up to 192 kHz
- dbx limiters on channels 1 and 2, switchable Hi-Z inputs, 60 mm faders, metal chassis
In your setup
Stereo channel 11/12 is the playback channel: its RCA inputs and the USB return from a computer share it, and Interval Mute on the master leaves only this channel open when you want music between parts of a programme. The USB send records either the master mix or Aux 1–2. Groups 1 and 2 can be routed to the master or used as separate outputs, for example a dedicated feed for a recorder. Main outputs are balanced XLR; aux, group and headphone outputs use TRS jacks, and a TRS footswitch socket mutes the effects. If you need every channel on its own track in a DAW, that is what the 12MTK version adds.
