The Yamaha MG16X is a high-quality 16-channel mixer from Japan's leading audio brand. It is a mixing solution with a simple layout and rugged construction, delivering outstanding performance and high-quality sound. With its modern, eye-catching design, this mixer lets you play music with real impact and enjoy top-quality sound.
The MG16X: a simple design with the Yamaha signature look
The Yamaha MG16X looks sharp, with Yamaha's signature simple design and well-balanced dimensions of 444 x 130 x 500 mm at around 6.8 kg. Its minimal yet sturdy construction makes it easy to position and install.
The top panel has a logical control layout, with every knob and button placed for convenient mixing. The chassis is made from carefully tested, high-grade alloy for a solid build and a long working life. Finished in an elegant black, the mixer stands out and suits a wide range of spaces and setups.
D-PRE preamps with Darlington circuitry
The preamp is where the sound begins and a key factor in shaping the character and quality of a mix. With D-PRE mic preamps and an inverted Darlington circuit, the Yamaha MG16X delivers a thicker, warmer sound. This circuit design makes the bass more natural, solid and powerful, while limiting distortion for smooth, clear sound.
With D-PRE preamps that perform flexibly across a wide frequency range, the mixer also handles a wide variety of signal processors and sound sources with ease.
Built-in 1-knob compressors for easy control
Yamaha equips the MG16X with 1-knob compressors, so you can shape your sound with a single control. The built-in compressor reduces the volume difference between the loudest and quietest signals, making the output more even, smooth and balanced.
Together with phantom power and PAD switches on the Mic/Line channels, the mixer delivers more detailed, true-to-life sound and minimises distortion when the input signal is hot.
Premium digital effects: SPX with 24 programs
With the Yamaha MG16X's SPX effects processor, you can use 24 built-in digital effects to shape and enhance your mix. The built-in effects can add extra depth and appeal to the overall sound or lift a performance.
Clear, quality sound shaping with 3-band EQ
The Yamaha MG16X has effective, powerful 3-band channel EQ for polished mixes. With EQ on every mono channel, the MG16X gives you extensive control, quality sound and great tone.
The high-pass filter also lets you clean up your mix by removing unwanted low-frequency noise.
Versatile inputs and outputs on the Yamaha MG16X
The Yamaha MG16X has XLR and TRS stereo outputs for connecting to a PA system or monitor speakers. It also has an additional 1/4" headphone output, plus outputs for sending to speakers, powered amplifiers or devices such as digital recorders.
Each MG16X channel has a dedicated FX-bus send level, and the overall FX-bus level is set with a dedicated FX-return control, giving you reverb, delay, phaser, flanger, chorus, tremolo, auto-wah, distortion and more. These effects can help vocals and instruments sit better in your mixes.
