Description
The Soundcraft Signature 12MTK is a 12-input analogue mixer that doubles as a multitrack USB audio interface. Each input can be recorded to its own track in a DAW while you mix the show on real knobs and faders, which suits bands that record rehearsals and gigs, teachers who capture lessons, and small studios that like an analogue front end.
Highlights
- Eight Soundcraft Ghost mic preamps, with 48 V phantom power and a high-pass filter on every mic channel
- Sapphyre 3-band EQ with a swept mid (140 Hz – 3 kHz) on the mono channels
- Lexicon effects processor with 22 algorithms, plus dbx limiters on channels 1 and 2
- 14-in/12-out USB audio at 16 or 24 bits and 44.1 or 48 kHz, with a USB return switch on every channel
- Three aux sends with pre/post switching, two subgroups and switchable Hi-Z inputs for guitar or bass
- Metal chassis, 60 mm faders and an internal universal power supply
In your setup
Every input sends its post-gain, pre-EQ signal to the matching USB channel, while the main stereo mix travels on USB channels 13 and 14, so one cable gives you separate tracks plus a reference mix. Press USB RTN on a channel and its analogue source is replaced by the computer's return: use it for plug-in processing, or replay last night's tracks for a virtual soundcheck; Soundcraft's brochure mentions VST, AU and AAX plug-ins used this way. In a DJ booth, the stereo RCA channel takes a player or DJ mixer, Aux 1–2 can feed monitors, and a TRS footswitch mutes the effects between songs. Soundcraft lists Windows 7, 8 and 10 and Mac OS 10.7–10.11 as supported and offers a multichannel USB driver download, so check it against the system you use.
