Description
The Proel S12A is the 12-inch model in Proel's S Series of powered subwoofers, made to sit under full-range speakers and take over the low end. At 19 kg it suits DJs and bands who carry their own PA, and small venues that want more bass from a pair of speakers they already own.
Highlights
- Hybrid band-pass (HBP) cabinet with a high-excursion 12″ woofer and 3″ voice coil
- Class D amplifier with a switch-mode power supply: 600 W continuous, 1,200 W peak
- Frequency response of 43–160 Hz and a maximum SPL of 127 dB (peak, at 1 m)
- 24 dB/oct crossover switchable between 100 and 160 Hz, plus a 0°/180° phase switch
- Stereo inputs, link outputs and filtered outputs, all on Neutrik connectors
- 15/18 mm plywood cabinet, scratch-resistant black paint, 1.5 mm metal grille, two handles and a pole socket
In your setup
Send the left and right mains from your mixer or DJ controller into the two combo inputs. The OUT sockets pass that signal on to your tops with the lows cut at the crossover point you picked, so the full-range speakers no longer have to reproduce deep bass; the LINK sockets copy the input untouched for a second sub or more powered speakers. Proel suggests choosing 100 or 160 Hz by taste, music style or the satellite you connect, and trying the phase switch when the sub stands apart from the tops. A ground-lift switch helps against hum on balanced cables, and a voltage selector covers both 220–240 V and 100–120 V mains. The pole socket takes a 35 mm speaker pole such as Proel's KP210, sold separately.
