Description
The Studiomaster Vortex 15SA is the compact active subwoofer of the Vortex series: a 15″ driver with a 75 mm voice coil and a 2,400 W peak amplifier in a 15 mm plywood cabinet. Designed to pair with the Vortex 10A, 12A and 15A tops, it suits DJs and bands who want deeper bass without carrying a separate amplifier.
Highlights
- Amplifier rated 600 W RMS, 1,200 W program, 2,400 W peak.
- Frequency response 43 Hz – 150 Hz (−10 dB) and 132 dB maximum SPL.
- 24-bit DSP with low-pass presets at 80, 100, 120 or 150 Hz, delay up to 10 m, a polarity setting and volume.
- Two balanced XLR inputs and two balanced XLR outputs.
- 15 mm plywood cabinet with durable paint, full-face steel grille and large carry handles.
- 35 mm top-hat socket for a speaker pole; 100–240 V power supply.
In your setup
Run the left and right outputs of a DJ mixer or controller into the two XLR inputs, then take the two XLR outputs on to a pair of Vortex tops. The low-pass preset sets where the sub hands over to the tops, the delay helps when the sub stands away from them, and the polarity setting is there for when bass from the sub and tops cancels out at the listening position. A pole in the top-hat socket can hold a Vortex full-range cabinet above the sub, which saves floor space in a small booth or on a crowded stage.
