Description
The PreSonus AIR15s is an active 15-inch subwoofer designed as the low-end partner for the AIR-series full-range speakers, though its variable low-pass filter lets it sit under almost any top box. Array presets and an alignment delay in the DSP make it equally suited to mobile gigs and permanent installs in small to mid-sized venues.
Highlights
- 15" woofer with 3" voice coil, 1200 W peak (600 W continuous) Class D
- 35 Hz – 160 Hz, 126 dB peak SPL
- Fully variable low-pass filter with ready settings for AIR10, AIR12 and AIR15
- Normal and Mo' Bass modes; Cardioid and End-Fire presets for two-sub arrays
- Alignment delay up to 12 m and polarity invert
- Two XLR/TRS combo inputs, two XLR link outputs, caster kit included
In a DJ or band rig, the mixer's left and right outputs go into the two combo inputs; the sub sums their low frequencies before the low-pass filter, and the two XLR outputs carry the full stereo signal on to the top speakers. A full-range speaker can stand on a subpole in the screw-lock pole cup, and the delay setting lines it up with the woofer whether it sits on top or a few feet away.
With two AIR15s, stacking them with the top unit facing the stage and selecting Cardioid on it – or placing one behind the other and selecting End-Fire on the rear unit – steers the bass towards the audience and keeps excess energy off the stage. The texture-painted birch cabinet, steel grille, side handles and casters make it practical to move, and the front LED can be switched off for discreet installs.
