8320A

The Genelec 8320A is a compact, versatile studio monitor with Smart Active Monitor (SAM) technology for accurate monitoring in any setup. A true-to-life 2-way design, dedicated 50 W class D amplifiers and proprietary technologies such as MDE, DCW and a high-efficiency reflex port let it reproduce sound flawlessly.

Genelec 8320A studio monitor: design overview

The Genelec 8320A measures 151 x 242 x 142 mm (W x H x D) and weighs just 3.2 kg — extremely compact and ready to deliver true-to-life sound wherever you are. The enclosure is made of high-grade die-cast aluminium, meeting strict acoustic standards and looking great, in two colours: dark grey and white.

Rounded edges and a gently curved front and sides give it a soft, elegant look. Every Genelec 8320A comes with the standard Iso-Pod (isolation positioner / decoupler), which supports many different mounting positions.

Genelec 8320A studio monitor: sound quality

Vivid 2-way sound

The Genelec 8320A uses two drivers for a clear 2-way sound: open, airy highs and clean, low-distortion bass. It has a 10.5 cm bass driver and a 1.9 cm metal dome tweeter, driven by dedicated high-efficiency 50 W class D amplifiers for the bass and treble.

Besides delivering the best sound quality, the speaker operates very safely thanks to magnetic shielding, overload protection circuitry and standard versatile room response controls.

The 8320A reproduces sound transparently, faithfully and reliably with high accuracy. Whether you work in a recording studio, post-production, a digital editing suite, radio or television, a pair of Genelec 8320A studio monitors gives you output you can trust.

Accurate monitoring with Smart Active Monitor (SAM)

Genelec's Smart Active Monitor (SAM) technology lets this monitor optimise itself, automatically aligning level and timing and compensating for room response anomalies, removing colouration from the source without dropping or adding anything to the incoming signal.

As a Smart Active Monitor, the 8320A integrates tightly with Genelec's GLM software, which configures and calibrates it for your listening environment and compensates for adverse room effects, creating a truly optimised, truly immersive monitoring solution.

Whether you work in acoustically difficult spaces or need a portable solution that adapts quickly to different rooms, the 8320A is a smart companion you can rely on.

Smart Active Monitor (SAM) offers remarkably accurate monitoring. With the highly intuitive Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software you can control the 8320A completely and get a flexible, computer-controlled system of monitors and subwoofers.

Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE)

The Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) is the familiar design found across Genelec studio monitors, giving focused near-field sound. The Genelec 8320A achieves a very smooth frequency response and excellent sound quality with minimal cabinet edge diffraction.

The rear-ported enclosure, made of recycled aluminium, not only gives remarkable LF extension; its curved shape and integrated waveguide also ensure precise, detailed performance both on and off axis.

Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW)

The revolutionary Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW) has been further refined to give extremely precise control over the 8320A's directivity. Genelec designed a specially shaped, smooth surface integrated into the enclosure.

Its area is maximised to achieve a perfectly flat on- and off-axis frequency response. The 8320A has a wide, consistent listening window and helps minimise harmful early room reflections and other issues associated with conventional designs.

ISS Intelligent Signal Sensing power management

Thanks to Genelec's Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS) power management, the 8320A automatically switches off to standby when ISS detects that the speaker is not in use. The 8320A then goes into a low-power sleep state, protecting your equipment and saving wasted electricity.

Iso-Pod stand

The special Iso-Pod stand gives flexible placement options, and there are also integrated rear mounting points for wall and floor stands plus another 3/8" thread for mounting on a stand base. The Iso-Pod is a smart support that lets the 8320A work upright or on its side as you need. It also lets you aim the monitor's acoustic axis at the listener, and acoustically and mechanically decouples the monitor from the surface it sits on.
