Genelec 8330A sound quality
Impressive full-range sound
The Genelec 8330A is a two-way design with two drivers: a 13 cm woofer for strong, powerful bass and a 1.9 cm metal dome tweeter for bright highs. Class D amplification delivers 100 W RMS power, suitable for rooms of many different sizes.
Built-in DSP
Like other DSP-based studio monitors, the Genelec 8330A accepts digital audio via an AES/EBU input or analogue audio via a separate input. You can pair the 8330 with the 7350 subwoofer for a complete monitoring system that covers everything from the lowest lows to the highest highs.
Whatever the room or audio project you are working on, the 8330A takes monitoring accuracy to the next level. Beyond accuracy, the adaptability and fine adjustment of the Genelec 8330A deliver true-to-life performance and fill the room with a powerful sense of musical space.
A top choice for professionals
The 8330A is chosen by the most demanding music professionals, who always need power and flexibility. That is because the Genelec 8330A offers a little more SPL and LF extension than the smaller 8320A. With faithful, transparent reproduction and a wide, clear frequency range, the 8330A lets you build mixes that are accurate and reliable.
Monitoring optimised with GLM software
The Genelec 8330A is a Smart Active Monitor that integrates closely with GLM software, which configures and calibrates it for your listening environment, compensating for the room's adverse effects to create a truly optimised monitoring solution. Combining accuracy, adaptability and a small footprint, the 8330A delivers optimal performance and powerful room-compensation features.
The SAM system is controlled over a network by Genelec's proprietary Loudspeaker Manager software (GLM™), letting you build a highly flexible and reliable monitoring system.
GLM provides flexible level, distance-delay and room-response compensation, using the advanced, powerful AutoCal™ 2 automatic calibration algorithm, with all parameters and settings stored in system setup files or saved in each individual monitor or subwoofer if the GLM network needs to be disconnected.
Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW™)
Genelec introduced the Directivity Control Waveguide (DCW™) in 1983 and has kept refining and improving it ever since to significantly increase the performance of direct-radiating multi-way monitors.
DCW technology shapes the radiated wavefront in a controlled way, giving a predictable directivity (dispersion) pattern — and with it the width and depth of the sound image, key elements of any listening environment.
Energy-saving Intelligent Signal Sensing (ISS™)
Introduced in early 2013, Genelec's Intelligent Signal Sensing technology meets the European Union's ErP Directive and serves Genelec's ambitious sustainability goals.
The ISS™ circuit monitors the loudspeaker's input signal and detects whether it is in use. If no audio is found for a period of time, it puts the loudspeaker into a low-power sleep state, where it draws less than 0.5 W. As soon as an input signal is detected, the loudspeaker switches back on instantly.
Anti-vibration Iso-Pod™ stand
The Iso-Pod™ stand supplied with Genelec products is an isolating positioner/decoupler attached to the aluminium enclosure. It has four shallow feet made of a special rubber-like material. It is firmly attached to the enclosure of the Genelec 8330A and can slide along its curved side or base, letting you tilt the monitor by ±15°.
That way the monitor's acoustic axis can be aimed precisely at the listener by adjusting the tilt with the Iso-Pod, which also isolates and damps unwanted vibration before it reaches the surface below.
Advanced reflex port
To minimise air velocity in the port, the vent must have a large cross-section and a long tube, maximising airflow so deep bass can be reproduced without compression.
The well-matched reflex port design of the 8330A also significantly reduces woofer excursion, improving linear low-frequency output.
