Description
The Pioneer DJ DM-40D-BT is a pair of compact two-way active desktop monitors with built-in Bluetooth. Each cabinet combines a 4-inch glass-fibre woofer with a 3/4-inch soft-dome tweeter, and the left speaker holds the Class D amplifier with DSP that drives both. It is aimed at bedroom DJs, beginners setting up a first practice desk and anyone who wants small monitors for a laptop, controller or phone. The DM-40D-BT is black; the DM-40D-BT-W is white.
Highlights
- 19 W per channel into 4 Ω, Class D with DSP
- 60 Hz – 20 kHz (-10 dB), up to 106 dB SPL (calculated peak at 1 m)
- DJ / PRODUCTION switch: punchy voicing for mixing or a flat response for production
- Bluetooth 5.0 with A2DP and AVRCP, SBC and AAC codecs, about 10 m range without obstacles
- RCA and 3.5 mm inputs, front 3.5 mm headphone output that mutes the speakers
- Bass-reflex MDF cabinets with diffusers below the tweeters
On a DJ desk the RCA inputs take the master output of a controller or small mixer, while the 3.5 mm input and Bluetooth handle a laptop or phone. All three sources are mixed together, so a reference track can play over Bluetooth while the decks stay connected. The level knob, pairing button and headphone socket sit on the front of the left speaker, within reach while you practise.
In a home or project studio, switch to PRODUCTION mode for a flat response, set the speakers at ear level and angle them inward by about 30° each side, as Pioneer DJ suggests. The pair drops into standby after roughly 20 minutes of silence and wakes up when a signal arrives.
In the box
- Power cord
- 3.5 mm stereo mini plug to RCA cable
- Speaker cord for linking the two speakers
