Description
The Pioneer DJ DM-40BT is a compact pair of 4-inch desktop monitors for DJs and producers who practise at home. Next to its wired RCA and mini-jack inputs it takes music from a phone or tablet over Bluetooth, so the same pair covers practice sessions, track preparation and everyday listening.
Highlights
- 4″ fiberglass woofers and 3/4″ soft-dome tweeters, driven by a Class AB amplifier rated at 21 W per channel into 4 Ω.
- Bass reflex ducts face forward, and grooves on the ducts reduce air friction so the low end stays clean.
- DECO convex diffusers in front of the tweeters widen high-frequency dispersion, and the tweeter and woofer are time-aligned.
- Bluetooth 4.2 with SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX Low Latency; the front pairing button also plays and pauses tracks.
- Volume knob and 3.5 mm headphone output on the front; plugging in headphones mutes the speakers.
In your setup
The rear RCA and 3.5 mm inputs accept a DJ controller, mixer or computer, and Bluetooth can stay paired at the same time. All sources are mixed together, so set the level on each device. Pioneer DJ recommends placing the speakers at ear level, angled about 30° towards the listening position, with at least 15 cm of free space around each cabinet for cooling. After roughly 30 minutes without signal the pair goes into standby and wakes again when audio arrives or the pairing button is pressed.
