Description
The Pioneer DJ DM-40 is a pair of compact 4″ active monitor speakers made for a desk, whether that is a home DJ practice corner, a small studio or a computer setup. The two speakers are joined by the supplied speaker cord, and the pair needs only one power cord.
Highlights
- 4″ (102 mm) fibreglass woofers and 3/4″ (19 mm) soft-dome tweeters with DECO convex diffusers that spread the high frequencies more widely.
- Class AB amplification, 21 W per channel into 4 Ω.
- Front-facing bass reflex ports with grooved ducts, so the bass still comes through when the speakers stand near a wall.
- Inputs: one RCA pair and one 3.5 mm stereo mini jack, input impedance 10 kΩ.
- Front-panel level control and a 3.5 mm headphone output that mutes the speakers when headphones are plugged in.
- Vinyl-laminated MDF cabinets.
In your setup
Connect the master RCA output of a DJ controller, or a computer's headphone jack with the supplied 3.5 mm-to-RCA cable, and the pair is ready to play. Plugging headphones into the front jack silences the speakers, which helps when you practise late. Pioneer suggests placing the speakers at ear level and angling them towards the listening position for a natural stereo image. The DM-40 runs on AC 110–240 V and draws 35 W.
