Description
The XR 2500 is a two-channel power amplifier from Wharfedale Pro's XR series, built in a steel 19-inch rack chassis two units high. It sits in the middle of the range and suits passive PA speakers and subwoofers in bars, small clubs, rehearsal rooms and mobile DJ rigs.
According to the XR series manual, it delivers 2 x 530 W into 8 ohms and 2 x 780 W into 4 ohms (1% THD), or 1550 W into a single load in bridge mode. A mode switch selects stereo, parallel or bridge operation, and input sensitivity can be set to 0.775 V or 1.4 V to match the mixer or processor in front of it.
Each channel has a balanced XLR input with an XLR link output for passing the signal on to another amplifier. The front panel carries a level control per channel and signal, clip and fault indicators, and a resettable circuit breaker on the back cuts the power if the amplifier is overloaded.
