Description

The Steinberg UR44 is a USB 2.0 audio interface developed by Steinberg and Yamaha, with four D-PRE mic preamps, six inputs and four line outputs. It suits home studios and small bands that record several microphones or instruments at once, and producers who also need MIDI and two separate headphone mixes.

In your setup

The main outputs drive a pair of studio monitors, while line outputs 3/4 carry a second mix to another set of speakers or an external device. A DJ mixer or another line-level source can be recorded on inputs 5/6, which switch between +4 dBu and −10 dBV, leaving all four preamps free for microphones. On a computer the UR44 needs the TOOLS for UR44 software (driver and dspMixFx). It runs on its own 12 V power adaptor, not on USB bus power.
