Description
The Steinberg UR12B is the black-and-copper edition of the UR12, a compact USB 2.0 audio interface with one microphone input and one instrument input. Steinberg states that, apart from the finish, every specification matches the silver UR12. It is a simple way to start recording vocals and guitar, to stream, or to talk with a proper microphone while gaming.
Highlights
- Class-A D-PRE mic preamp on the XLR input, with +48 V phantom power for condenser microphones.
- Hi-Z input on a 6.35 mm jack for electric guitar or bass.
- 24-bit/192 kHz converters and an input dynamic range of 101 dB.
- Loopback merges your mic or guitar with audio playing on the computer, ready for live streaming.
- Zero-latency direct monitoring with an on/off switch, in a full-metal 850 g casing.
- Cubase AI and Cubasis LE included for recording on a computer or an iPad.
In your setup
Plugged into a computer's USB port, the UR12B runs on bus power. With an iPhone or iPad (Apple adapter required), power it through the 5 V DC port from a USB power adapter or battery pack, which you buy separately. Monitor speakers connect to the RCA main outputs and headphones to the front jack; one OUTPUT knob sets both levels. It works with any software that supports ASIO, Core Audio or WDM, so a DJ playing from software can, for example, stream a set with a live microphone on top using loopback.
