How Much Do DJ Lessons Cost in Saigon? 2026 Prices and 30% Off With a Friend

Professional DJ lessons: cost and course length

Updated 2026. Prices are the school's current list prices in Vietnamese dong (VND); dollar figures are rough guides at about 26,000 VND to 1 USD.

If you've been watching DJs in Saigon's bars and wondering what it would take to get behind the decks yourself, here's the short version. At Muse Inc, a DJ course costs between 4,000,000 VND (about $155) and 38,000,000 VND (about $1,460), depending on the course and on whether you learn one-on-one, in a small group or online. The main courses run from about three weeks to about three months, lessons are available in English, and you learn on the school's club gear, so you don't need to buy anything to start.

The short answer

  • Try it properly: Level 1 — Basic DJ, 8,000,000–9,500,000 VND (about $310–365), around 3 weeks.
  • Go all the way: the Comprehensive DJ Course, 24,000,000–38,000,000 VND (about $920–1,460), around 3 months.
  • Evenings only: DJ After Hours, 4,000,000–5,000,000 VND (about $155–190), 5 sessions.
  • For kids aged 6–14: the Kids DJ Course, 7,000,000 VND (about $270), private lessons.
  • Just want to play: a practice room from 250,000 VND (about $10) an hour, no course needed.

Can I take DJ lessons in English?

Yes. Lessons are taught in Vietnamese, and in English for international students, and the lesson slides in your student account come in both languages. If your schedule is unpredictable, private lessons are the easiest fit: you book any time between 9:00 and 21:00, go at your own pace and work with your own music. For a group class in English, ask about the language when you book.

Group classes take up to 4 students, except the Comprehensive course, which takes 4–6. You can compare every course side by side on the DJ courses page.

What the fee includes

Take the Comprehensive DJ Course as the example. The price covers:

  • 33 one-hour lessons with working DJs
  • 33 practice sessions with a teaching assistant, booked between lessons, 9:00–21:00 every day
  • The school's gear for every lesson: Pioneer CDJ-3000, DJM-A9, CDJ-2000NXS2, DJM-900NXS2, XDJ-RR, turntables and controllers, with Rekordbox, Serato DJ Pro and Traktor
  • A test at the end of each of the 6 stages
  • A graduation set at Markshow, the school's graduation showcase, in front of a real audience
  • A certificate that can be checked by QR code
  • Final lessons on troubleshooting, crowd reading, performance, self-promotion and career planning

The shorter courses also run on school gear and end with a QR-checkable certificate. Practice varies by course (8 hours for Basic, 17 hours for Intermediate, 24 hours for Techno, 29 sessions for Urban and 23 for EDM), so ask what yours includes before you sign up.

How long does it take to learn to DJ?

It depends on what "learning to DJ" means to you.

Level 1: about 3 weeks

The Level 1 beginner course is 9 sessions over roughly three weeks. You go from setting up the gear and finding the beat to EQ, phrasing and smooth transitions, and finish by building your first 15-minute set. If you're in Saigon for a month or two, this is a realistic goal, and it tells you whether DJing is for you before you commit to more.

The Comprehensive course: about 3 months

The Comprehensive DJ Course takes about three months: 33 lessons in six stages, from hardware and beatmatching through EQ mixing, effects and scratching to performance and career skills. If you'd like a feel for the teaching first, there's a free preview of the first lesson.

When can I play a gig?

Honestly, it depends on you. On the Comprehensive course, your first set in front of an audience is your graduation set at Markshow, about three months in. Getting booked regularly is a different matter: it comes down to how much you practise between lessons, recording and sharing your mixes, and playing for real crowds whenever you can. No school can promise you a date for that, and we won't. After graduating you can keep practising in the studio, join Muse Inc events and get booked through the school's DJ booking service.

Do I need my own DJ controller?

No. In the studio you learn on the school's controllers, CDJs and turntables, so the course fee is essentially your whole starting cost. Two small things to bring:

  • Headphones: the practice rooms ask you to bring your own pair, with a 6.3 mm or 3.5 mm plug. DJ headphones in the school store start at 750,000 VND (about $30).
  • A USB stick: with your music exported from rekordbox.

Online lessons are different: you need a laptop and a controller at home. If you'd have to buy one (for example a Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 at 11,650,000 VND, about $450, in the school store), learning in the studio usually works out cheaper. When you're ready to buy, the DJ equipment section of the school store lists current models and prices. Need gear for a single gig or event instead? Renting DJ equipment is the cheaper route.

Practice room prices

You don't have to be a student to book the DJ practice rooms. They're open 9:00–21:00 every day:

  • 250,000 VND an hour (about $10): XDJ-RX3 or XDJ-XZ rooms, price for 2 people, plus 50,000 VND an hour for each extra person
  • 350,000 VND an hour (about $13.50): CDJ-2000NXS2 + DJM-900NXS2, or the vinyl rooms
  • 450,000 VND an hour (about $17): the private CDJ-3000 + DJM-A9 studio, for up to 4 people

Paying and finding the school
