Genelec 8010A studio monitor design overview
The Genelec 8010A is compact yet still meets Genelec's strict acoustic standards to minimise every form of sound distortion. Its Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE) is made of high-grade die-cast aluminium — rigid and sleek — with soft, stylish curved edges and outstanding durability.
The monitor comes in two finishes, dark grey and white, to suit different interior styles and personal tastes.
It measures 121 x 195 x 115 mm (W x H x D) and weighs just 1.5 kg, so it is not only easy to carry but also fits into many spaces without taking up much room. It comes with an Iso-Pod stand attached directly to the aluminium enclosure, so you can place the monitor securely in the best position for both looks and sound.

High-grade drivers
The Genelec 8010A is a 2-driver, 2-way design with a 7.6 cm (3") cone woofer and a 1.9 cm (3/4") metal dome tweeter, yet it delivers a remarkable frequency response extending from about 74 Hz to 20 kHz. Recording professionals value the 8010A for its stable low-end balance, which is rare in a nearfield monitor.
Small size, big performance
This active monitor has built-in Class D amplification with 50 W of power — 25 W for the woofer and 25 W for the tweeter — for impressive playback with every melody clear, even in confined spaces or when recording on the move.
Combined with improvements in acoustic design, the output is relatively powerful and reliably accurate.
Accurate sound reproduction
Despite their compact size, Genelec 8010A monitors still offer an excellent frequency response and high SPL. The Iso-Pod has four shallow feet made of a special rubber-like material and lets the monitor tilt +/-15 degrees, so it can be aimed precisely at the listener by adjusting the tilt with the Iso-Pod. Its isolation and damping properties reduce midrange colouration caused by unwanted vibrations being transmitted to the supporting surface.
Easy to use and integrate
The monitor has one balanced input on a 3-pin XLR connector. Room compensation options include a sensitivity switch and several low-frequency adjustments. The Genelec 8010A is energy-efficient thanks to a power-saving mode that powers it up and down automatically through a signal-sensing circuit.
