What is a DJ? What types of DJs are there?

DJing is an art form that today's young people know very well. But if you've never tried it or want to understand it in more depth, this post is for you. Let's explore it together with Muse Inc!

1. What is a DJ?

DJ stands for “disc jockey”, a term that dates back to the era of vinyl records. Originally, a DJ was simply someone who played and looked after records (vinyl discs) on the radio or at music events.

Today, DJs don't just play vinyl: they often combine a range of digital tools such as computers, MIDI controllers and DJ software to create and perform music. DJs can work in many different fields, including radio, live events, music production and more.

A DJ's main job is to create and keep up a musical atmosphere that suits the event or the crowd, usually by blending different tracks, creating remixes and even adding techniques such as scratching to make the performance richer. DJs play at all kinds of places, from bars and weddings to corporate events and entertainment venues.
