DJ Mie, the DJ breaking stereotypes about female DJs

When people think of female DJs, sexy stars like Trang Moon, Oxy or King Lady usually spring to mind… but in recent years, perceptions of female DJs have been shifting, thanks to DJ Mie. So who is DJ Mie, and how did she become famous? Let's find out with Muse Inc in this article!

1. DJ Mie's background

DJ Mie's real name is Trương Tiểu My. She was born on 7 December 1995 in Da Nang.

She grew up in a family of modest means, and her mother died when she was in first grade, so her childhood was hard. When she was in high school, her father turned to Buddhism, and he passed away just as his daughter started university.

Mie studied at the Vietnam Dance College but was drawn to DJing and fell in love with it. Women in this profession often face prejudice and gossip, so when Mie decided to take it up, her family pushed back. But she refused to give up on her dream, worked hard and seriously, and went on to achieve great success.

2. From an unknown name to Vietnam's most successful female DJ

The Da Nang native began her career in 2015, focusing on EDM, though she also plays hip hop and dance music well. That same year she entered the Miss DJ 2015 contest and, thanks to her creativity, took first place. It proved the perfect springboard for Mie to go further.

In 2017 she made a big splash in The Remix 2017, which made her famous and set social media alight with her talent and cute looks.

However, her name truly exploded after the first season of Rap Việt (2020). Since then, Mie has been in high demand at countless music events and game shows. After six years of hard work, DJ Mie has enjoyed plenty of career success and earned a solid place in the entertainment world.

Mie is also known for her sweet romance with comedian Hồng Thanh, winner of Cười Xuyên Việt 2017 (a TV comedy contest). The couple often post funny, creative content about their relationship, which is hugely popular with audiences.

Famous as she is, Mie has kept one rule throughout her career: keep time in bars to a minimum and never drink with guests. She says she doesn't hang around after a gig, especially at bars or clubs — once the job is done, she goes straight home. It shows that although her outfits can be on the fiery side, she keeps things strictly professional when she performs.

This has gone some way to breaking down many people's prejudices about DJing, and reflects her wish for society to judge her on her talent rather than her looks. It also sets Mie apart from other female DJs and has earned her a perfect 10 in the hearts of her fans.

DJ Mie is also a close friend of Muse Inc: she once took a Muse Inc course (Muse Academy). After she graduated, Muse Inc continued to back her with its technical team and modern equipment at her shows. Having worked with her often, the Muse Inc team has seen that Mie really is a sweet but very strong young woman, always friendly and full of positive energy.

Today DJ Mie is a familiar name on the DJ scene, and her profile keeps rising at a dizzying pace. Yet she has never stopped working towards even greater success. As a Muse Academy “alumna” and a close companion, DJ Mie makes all of us at Muse Inc extremely proud, for her achievements and for what she brings to the community of female DJs in Vietnam.
