DJ tips: livestream your own DJ set

The digital age is in full swing, and with it comes the rise of social media. Lately we've checked out lots of sets from DJs, amateur and professional alike, released one after another in all sorts of musical styles… but that's still not enough.

DJs can create their own sets as livestreams on whichever platform suits them best – you can go live on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram or other social networks. The biggest worry for DJs and producers, though, is how to keep the livestream running smoothly without any hiccups halfway through.

First, check your internet speed before you go live. Second – and this is the most important – during a livestream you almost certainly won't avoid copyright claims on the music. If you're unlucky enough to get one, file an appeal with Facebook. In the worst case, you'll have to delete the old livestream and replace it with a new one, making some changes before you go live again.

And third, check your “extra” equipment – the important bits that connect your DJ gear and your phone – before you start livestreaming your set.
