Denon DJ Prime Series Gets Beatport, Beatsource, SoundCloud and TIDAL Streaming

Ever wondered when online music libraries would arrive on standalone DJ gear? Denon DJ has just announced that streaming services are coming to its standalone Prime Series units (the SC5000, SC5000M and Prime 4).
That means anyone who owns one of these units will be able to stream music from any of the four online platforms compatible with them.
Key features of Prime Series music streaming
Denon DJ will become the first maker of standalone DJ gear with streaming services built in. We knew the Prime units had network connectivity, but don't forget that they all have WiFi too. Here's what Denon DJ says we can expect:
- Wi-Fi enabled across the whole Prime Series (Prime 4, SC5000, SC5000M)
- A wired/physical internet connection available
- Streaming music services on standalone gear
- A touch-screen interface straight into the streaming service
- Track buffering in memory in case the network connection drops
- Add Hot Cues and loop points to streamed tracks
- Search artists, tracks and playlists straight from the touch screen
- Streaming partners will be added through a firmware update in the summer
- Thanks to a unique locking technology, both Beatport LINK and Beatsource LINK will offer offline storage
- Beatport LINK Pro will let you keep 50 tracks offline
- Beatport LINK Pro+ will let you keep 100 tracks offline
Which streaming services will be compatible?
Instead of just one or two streaming services, Denon DJ has decided to offer four — including the upcoming open-format service Beatsource. Here are the four:
- SoundCloud Go+ – SoundCloud, the world's largest open audio platform, is part of this new integration. With standalone streaming on the Prime Series, SoundCloud users with a SoundCloud Go+ premium subscription can stream and mix straight from more than 200 million SoundCloud tracks from over 20 million users.
- Beatport – Beatport's new LINK technology will support streaming on standalone Prime Series units. LINK, a streaming service built for DJs, is the first to support this, including an offline storage mode. Hugely popular, club-ready digital content and professionally curated playlists will give Prime DJs easier access than ever to a library of electronic music.
- Beatsource – Beatport and DJcity have teamed up to launch Beatsource, a DJ platform dedicated to hip-hop and open format. The new platform will give access to a huge music catalogue, genre-specific discovery and curated playlists, all available over wireless and wired connections as well as through standalone streaming on Denon DJ Prime Series products via Beatsource LINK.
- TIDAL – With access to more than 60 million tracks, standalone streaming with TIDAL gives DJs a vast range of music to please any crowd, stage or event. DJs can easily reach their personal TIDAL playlists and also follow the platform's curated picks. With so many tracks and so much exclusive content across music styles, DJs can be ready for any request at any gig — and all of it works with Prime Series gear.
Pioneer DJ's new DDJ-200 is an impressive launch for beginner DJs, but streaming on Denon DJ's Prime units is a feature that seems to put Denon well ahead of Pioneer DJ. Pioneer DJ is unlikely to add streaming to the CDJ-2000NXS2 right now; users may have to wait for the next generation.
